Bay Area's Only Outdoor Ice Rink and Ice Slide Returns for 21st Season
Walnut Creek on Ice opens November 20 with skating, ice slide, lessons, fire pits and more!
(WALNUT CREEK, Calif., 10.13.26) — The Bay Area’s only outdoor ice rink and ice slide returns to Downtown Walnut Creek this holiday season as Walnut Creek on Ice celebrates its 21st season. Opening November 20 at Civic Park, the longtime holiday tradition invites families and friends back for skating, a trip down the 90-foot Frosty’s Summit Ice Slide, and winter fun through January 18.
A winter favorite for generations of Bay Area families, Walnut Creek on Ice invites guests to glide around the outdoor rink, try the ice slide, or warm up with a private fire pit.
For those looking to build their skills on the ice, the rink will offer its Ice-Skating Academy and hockey classes throughout the season. For the youngest skaters, special Wednesday morning Littles Skates will once again be offered—including a special morning visit from Santa.
“After 21 years, we’ve seen kids grow up on this ice and come back with families of their own,” said Kathy Hemmenway, Executive Director of the Walnut Creek Business Association, a presenter of Walnut Creek on Ice. “That’s what makes this rink so special. It’s part of how Walnut Creek celebrates the holidays, and we can’t wait to see everyone back on the ice.”
The covered ice rink is located at Civic Park, 1365 Civic Drive in Downtown Walnut Creek, and will be open November 20, 2026, through January 18, 2027. Tickets, hours, class information, and reservations are available at WalnutCreekOnIce.com.
