The Creek. Dub C. WC. And now... The Nut.

If you've been anywhere near Walnut Creek social media lately, you've probably heard it. The nickname has made its way from social media and local conversations to headlines across the Bay Area and beyond.

And apparently, people have opinions.

From Locust Street Festival to “The Nut”

While the nickname has been floating around for a while, Walnut Creek Spotlight helped bring it to life with a collection of hats and apparel celebrating Walnut Creek's unofficial nicknames, including The Nut, The Creek and Dub C.

The collection made its event debut right here in Downtown Walnut Creek at the 2026 Locust Street Festival, where festival-goers got their first chance to shop the locally inspired merch in person.

From there, things took off.

“The Nut” started popping up around town and across social media, the nickname debate grew, and Walnut Creek Spotlight's merch soon found themselves at the center of a much bigger story.
