New Downtown Entertainment Zone Launches at Locust Street Festival

New program allows festivalgoers to support local businesses while enjoying Walnut Creek's signature summer street festivals.

This summer, Locust Street Festival is bringing an exciting new experience to Downtown Walnut Creek.

On Wednesday, July 8, the Downtown Walnut Creek Entertainment Zone will make its debut during Locust Street Festival, giving attendees a new way to experience one of the city's most popular summer events. Guests 21 and over will be able to purchase beverages from participating businesses and enjoy them while strolling through the designated festival area, creating a vibrant, walkable experience that encourages visitors to explore more of downtown.

The Entertainment Zone will be activated exclusively during designated events and will make its first appearances during the 2026 Locust Street Festivals. The program is designed to support local businesses, enhance the visitor experience, and bring even more energy to Downtown Walnut Creek's thriving restaurant, retail, and entertainment district.

"Locust Street Festival has always been about bringing the community together and showcasing everything that makes Downtown Walnut Creek special," said Kathy Hemmenway, Executive Director of the Walnut Creek Downtown Association. "The Entertainment Zone adds a new dimension to that experience by encouraging guests to discover participating businesses, stay longer, and explore the festival in a fun and responsible way."

Known for its lively atmosphere, Locust Street Festival attracts thousands of attendees to downtown each summer with live music, local food and beverages, artisan vendors, shopping, family-friendly activities, and community gathering spaces. The addition of the Entertainment Zone expands opportunities for businesses to connect with visitors while creating a more seamless and engaging festival experience.

The Downtown Walnut Creek Entertainment Zone will be active during the following Locust Street Festival events:

• Wednesday, July 8, 2026 | 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM
• Wednesday, August 5, 2026 | 5:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Admission to Locust Street Festival is free and all are welcome to attend. Guests can look for official Entertainment Zone signage throughout the festival and purchase beverages from participating businesses. All beverages must remain within the designated Entertainment Zone boundaries and be served in approved Entertainment Zone cups.
