Everything To Know Before You Go

Walnut Creek's Locust Street Festival happens on a Wednesday evening, once a month in July and August. This year's festival series occurs on July 8th and August 5th from 5:00-8:30pm.

All events are FREE ADMISSION with RSVP.


How do I get there and where do I park?

The event is located on Locust Street, Cypress Street, and Bonanza Street in Downtown Walnut Creek.

Parking is available at the S. Locust Parking Garage, the Lesher Center Parking Garage, and the Broadway Parking Garage. Visit our transportation page to learn more. Rideshares are highly encouraged.

Locust Street Festival is BARTable! Hop on BART and you're here. Travel safely to and from the event, plus avoid traffic and parking when you take BART to and from the Walnut Creek station. 

New this year - ride your bike and park at the FREE Bike Valet! Located on Bonanza Street near Broderick Roadhouse. The Bike Valet is presented by Potter Sherman Group at Morgan Stanley.


What roads will be closed on event days?

The Locust Street Festival boundaries are closed from 1:00pm-10:00pm on event days. Don't get towed - pay attention to No Parking signs and use nearby parking garages.

Locust Street will be closed from Mt. Diablo Blvd (starting after entrance to the S. Locust Parking Garage) to Civic Drive (starting after entrance to the Lesher Center Parking Garage). Cypress Street and Bonanza Street will be closed from N. California Blvd. to Commercial Lane. Entrance/Exit from the S. Locust Garage and Lesher Center Garage on N. Locust will remain open. Parking garage access for The Rise tenants will remain open and accessible on Cypress St., from California Blvd. 


Is this a dog-friendly event?

Yes! Locust Street Festival is a family-friendly and dog-friendly event. Bring the kids, your pup, your neighbors, or your out-of-town guests—we welcome everyone to join in the fun.

Dogs must remain on a leash and in control at all times. Please bring your pet water and waste bags to dispose of waste properly. 


Are alcoholic beverages served at the event?

Yes! Locust Street Festival is a part of the Downtown Walnut Creek Entertainment Zone.

Wine, beer, and specialty cocktails are available for purchase at select downtown restaurants and bars located throughout the event. 21+ wristbands will be distributed on-site. Guests must be 21+ with a valid ID to get a wristband, purchase and consume alcohol. Alcohol must be consumed within the event boundaries in the designated Entertainment Zone cups. 

Look for the DRINKS SOLD HERE flags, located throughout the festival, to find participating businesses and enjoy a drink!

Can I bring my own food and drinks?

We encourage you to support our amazing local vendors and the dozens of restaurants surrounding the event. For a guide to downtown restaurants, click here. No outside alcohol is allowed.


Is this event rain or shine?

The event is light rain or shine. If heavy rain or other inclement weather is expected, we will monitor the forecast and provide announcements on our website, newsletter, and social media. 


Will photos or videos be taken at the event?

By attending or participating in Locust Street Festival, you acknowledge that Walnut Creek Downtown and its event partners may capture and use photos or videos taken during the event. This includes content of individuals, booths, or businesses, as well as publicly shared posts, for promotional purposes across digital and print platforms. No additional permissions or compensation will be provided. I lost something at the event. Who do I contact?

If you are on-site at the event, please visit the INFO BOOTH, located near the Main Stage at the intersection of Cypress St & Locust St. If you are looking to see if an item was found at the event, please Contact Us or the Walnut Creek Police Department.
