Downtown Construction Schedule (April 1st, 2024)

Please note the schedule below for construction plans along Locust Street:

• Week of April 1st:
  • Cypress St. on the east side of Locust St.
  •  Locust St. moving from Mt. Diablo north towards Cypress St.

• Week of April 8th:
  • Cypress St. east of Locust St. and then moving to the west of Locust St.
  • Locust St. continuing north from Mt. Diablo north towards Cypress St.

• Week of April 15th:
  • Cypress St. west of Locust St.
  •  Locust St. continuing north from Mt. Diablo north towards Cypress St.

Downtown Construction Schedule (February 28, 2024)

Please note the schedule below for construction plans along Locust Street:

• Week of March 4th:
  • Bonanza St. between Locust St. and California Blvd.
  • Mt. Diablo Blvd. between Locust St. and N. Main St.
• Week of March 11th:
  • Continued construction on Bonanza St. followed by work on Cypress St. on both sides of Locust St.
  • Continued construction on Mt. Diablo Blvd. between Locust St. and N. Main St., followed by work on Locust St. from Mt. Diablo Blvd. north towards Cypress St.

Downtown Construction Schedule (January 22, 2024)

Please note the following schedule changes to the construction project along Locust Street:

• January 15th thru week of January 22nd – Construction on Locust between Civic Dr. and Bonanza St.
• Week of January 29th – Construction on Locust between Bonanza and Cypress
• Week of February 5th – Complete work on Locust between Bonanza and Cypress, begin work on Bonanza between Locust and California

Some areas where sewer installation has been completed were not paved due to weather conditions. If necessary conditions are met, the paving schedule may circle back to Giammona and completed sections of Locust.

Downtown Construction Project Resumes with Central San Phase (October 16, 2023)

Affected areas:

• Giammona Drive to Locust St. (South) to approximately Olympic Blvd., Bonanza & Cypress Streets (see map)

Timeline: 

• October 16 through April 2024 beginning on Giammona Drive
• Daily work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Holidays (No Work): October 27, November 10, November 23-24, December 25 - January 1, January 15, February 19
• Full block closures

Pipe Replacement Financing (optional) for Property Owners:

• Available through Central San if a property owner wants to replace their lateral lines from the business to the curb.
• FYI - eventually if a new business moves into a location within this construction zone & has to do TI's, they'll have to replace any old 4” pipes with the new standard 6” pipe

Business Impact:

• Service interruption is not anticipated during the project
• The Contractor will provide 7-day and 2-day advanced notices for each site as they progress through the project
• Sidewalk access will be maintained at all times
• Traffic control in effect throughout project
• Signage will be posted that businesses remain open during construction
• Street sweeper every Friday afternoon to clean area for the weekend

Past updates:

• February 21 & 24 - EBMUD will be disinfecting and pressure testing the new drinking water main on Locust Street as well as saw cutting and locating utilities on Bonanza Street from N. California Blvd. to Shuey Ave.
• February 27 & March 10 - EBMUD will be completing installation of new drinking water main on Bonanza Street from N. California Ave. to Shuey Ave., followed by pressure testing and disinfection between 3/13 and 3/16.
• Service transfers on all portions of the project are expected to be completed between 3/20 and 3/30.  We anticipate final connections and clean up to be completed by mid-April. (Schedule is subject to change)
